Information about voluntary return to syria
Voluntary return to Syria is possible with a valid Syrian passport and also with an expired Syrian passport; it does not matter how long the passport has been expired.
If you have a valid or expired Syrian passport, we can organize the return quickly.
If you do not have a valid or expired Syrian passport, we can help you apply for a temporary travel document.
Financial support (New amounts from 1 May 2026)
Syrians with a residence permit or an ongoing asylum procedure:
Syrians with a residence permit or an ongoing asylum procedure will receive €3,000 in cash per adult at Amsterdam Schiphol and €1,800 in cash per minor child at Amsterdam Schiphol on the day of departure.
Syrians with a return decision (you no longer have the right to stay in the Netherlands):
Syrians with a return decision will receive support partly in cash and partly in goods in Syria.
Per adult, they receive €200 in cash at Amsterdam Schiphol on the day of departure, €630 in cash in Syria and a reintegration support in Syria worth €2,450
For each minor child, they receive €40 in cash at Amsterdam Schiphol on the day of departure, €630 in cash in Syria and a reintegration support in Syria worth €1,230

The flight is booked and paid for you; there are no costs involved.
There are currently these travel routes to Syria:
1 From Amsterdam Schiphol to Amman (Jordan) and then by bus to Damascus. The flight ticket to Amman and the bus ticket to Damascus are arranged and paid for you.
2 From Amsterdam Schiphol to Amman (Jordan) and then by plane to Aleppo. The flight tickets to Amman and Aleppo are arranged and paid for you.
